    Villagers clash with police at Nimchak Bathani in Gaya; 2 policemen injured

    GAYA(Bihar): Atleast two policemen, included one BMP jawan and one home guard jawan were injured in a clash between police and villagers in Gaya's Kujur village in Nimchak Bathani late in the evening on Thursday. The SC & ST and local policemen, who went to arrest a former mukhiya at Kujur village in Nimchak Bathani, when a group of people attacked them with sticks and hurled stones at them,  SSP Harpreet Kaur said.

    While the police reinforcement was sent to control the situation,SSP added .

    When police reached at Kujur village, the mob first thrashed police forces and then some villagers armed with bamboo sticks beat the other two constables. While the some local of the village provoked the crowd to launch attack on police and following his orders the villagers manhandled the policemen. The officer said that police were trying to control the situation and a probe into the matter will be initiated afterwards, said SSP Harpreet Kaur.

    SSP said that the villagers attacked the police team that went to arrest former mukhiya Mukesh Kumar in Kujur village within  limits of Atri police station area of ​​the district, due to which two police personnel were badly injured as well as the police vehicle was also damaged by the villagers.

    Gaya SSP told that two policemen got badly injured. The villagers forcibly snatched one rifle and some cartridges from the police, which have been recovered later. She told that the police is camping in the village.

     Confirming this incident, Adl SP Manish Kumar said that the police had come to arrest former mukhiya Mukesh Kumar in a case.  

    According to the information received, the door of the former chief's house was locked.  The police took some people into custody to interrogate the neighbors of the house.  Meanwhile, a young man named Bittu was arrested and taken away by the police because he misbehaved with the police and used abusive language.

    There was a heated argument between the police and the villagers over arresting a youth of village and the matter escalated.  It is said that case number 02/2022 in SC/ST police station of Gaya district against former mukhiya Mukesh Kumar is registered under section 341,323,379,504,506 of Bhadvi and various sections of Scheduled Castes Act.

    In this case, the police had reached his village to arrest him on the basis of secret information. Three persons included Dilip Kumar, former mukhiya Mukesh Kumar and Kishore Kunal are named accused in this case.  Here, in view of the tension between the villagers and the police, a large number of police have been deployed in the village.  The situation is said to be under control.
