Gaya's Chandauti cops arrest four youths for chain snatching

GAYA(Bihar): Four chain snatchers have landed in the police net here on Wednesday. Their arrests have helped city police in uncovering dozens cases of chain snatching in Gaya city in the last few months,said Adl SP Manish Kumar.

The Chandauti police have recovered gold chains, one looted auto, and five smartphones from the arrested members of the gang. The value of the properties recovered from the arrested four members including snatched gold ornaments about is worth Rs in lakhs. The arrested were identified as Rinku Pandit of Samir Tikya, Chhotu, Pintu and Subodh Kumar,added Adl SP Manish Kumar.

 

During interrogation, the Cops came to know that the two were involved in the chain snatching incident in Chandauti and on further questioning, the two accused are said to have informed the Police that they along with two others had snatched gold chains in various City police limits. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police arrested two others here on Wednesday and recovered gold chains, golden tops, besides seizing one auto and five mobile phones from them.

 

Gaya SSP Harpreet Kaur has formed a team under leadership of Adl SP Manish Kumar and other top police officials after a regular chain snatching cases was reported in the Gaya city last few months.

They were robbing a woman of her gold chain while she was alone in public place here on October 3, 2022. All four chain snachers were arrested within the jurisdiction of Rampur and Kotwali police station areas, said Adl SP. Police also recovered gold jewelery, mobile phones from them. The auto which was used in the incident was also confiscated.
