    GAYA(Bihar): One hardcore Naxal allegedly involved in several incidents of violence has surrendered with a gun and 6 cartridges before SSB IG and Gaya district SSP here on Friday, police said.
    Laxami Kant Paswan alias Vikas, (31), a resident of Kothilwa village in Gaya district.
    The release said nearly eight criminal offenses had been registered included five in Aurangabad and three in Gaya against him including those related to murders, encounters, and robbery. He joined CPI Maoists in 2018.
    He laid several ambushes in different places in Gaya and Aurangabad against security forces and was also involved in multiple meetings in district, the release stated. 
    Mistreatment of man by senior Maoists, discrimination between senior and junior cadres in providing basic facilities, challenging life in forests, the potential threat from wild beasts and security forces, and attractive terms of the Bihar government's surrender policy were among the reasons cited by the Paswan for giving up the path of violence, the release said.
    Due to intensified anti- Naxal operations conducted by the Gaya police, hardcore rebel has surrendered in the district here on Friday. The release quoted SSP Harpreet Kaur saying that all necessary assistance will be provided to ultra who are willing to give up arms and join the national mainstream.
    Police sources said that CPI Maoist's zonal commander and hardcore Naxalite Laxmikant Paswan surrendered before SSB Deputy Inspector General Chherig Dorje and Senior Superintendent of Police Harpreet Kaur here on Friday. 
    Senior Superintendent of Police Harpreet Kaur said that Zonal Commander Laxmi Kant Paswan was given Rs 15,000 as cooperation from Gaya Police.
    Zonal Commander Laxmi Kant Paswan son of Ganesh Paswan is a resident of Kotilwa village under Latuya police station area. Zonal Commander Laxmi Kant Paswan was active in the Naxalite organization since the year 2018 and was expert in making pressure IED, added SSP. 
    The Naxalites have suffered a major setback by surrendering to the police and they had given many important information to the police. But it is being said that the hardcore Naxalite had come in contact with the police for the last several days.
    Naxali Laxmikant Paswan has clarified before the police that he was fed up with the Maoist organization. Impressed by the government's surrender policy.
