2 arrested for demanding extortion money in Gaya's Fatehpur

GAYA(Bihar): The district police on Saturday arrested two persons, who were allegedly demanding extortion money from local traders and businessmen, in Gaya's Fatehpur posing as members of some criminal gang.
The accused were identified as Ankit Kumar son of Uttam Kumar of Nadaraganj under Civil line police station, Gaya and Nashibullah alias Sonu of Fatehpur in Gaya district, said SSP Harpreet Kaur here on Saturday evening.
Police also recovered two mobiles with Sim cards, which were used for demanding extortion from their possession, added SSP.
Senior Superintendent of police Harpreet Kaur said that both of them were closed associates and one Ankit Kuma, who is living in Delhi and was arrested from Delhi.
"One Nashibullah used to gather information of the person from whom extortion money can be demanded. After finding the target he used to forward the details to Ankit, who made extortion calls to people claiming to be member of the a criminal gang. They threatened to kill both the father and son over mobile call If they failed to pay an extortion money.
Sr Superintendent of police Gaya Harpreet Kaur said a case (667/22) under appropriate sections was registered at Fatehpur police station and investigation taken up.
“Our teams mounted electronic as well as human surveillance, which yielded results and two suspects were identified. Raids were conducted and both of them namely Ankit from Delhi and Nashibullah from Fatehpur were arrested.
